Kids, actually, only need a little to become happy. It is when we grow up and develop a sense of wanting something more than what we already have becomes the issue for contentment. Kids will give you a smile with even the littlest of things and would give you such big hugs when you really tickle their soul. And to give you more ideas, here is 6 simple ways to make your cute, lovable treasures even more.
- Randomly hug them.
Hugging is one of the most underrated forms of showing affection. It’s because we believe it would be intruding on someone’s personal space, you know that 1 meter radius you like to keep for yourself, only. But for kids, hugs are better than candy because they feel the warmth and love you have for them! So, give a lot.
- Ask about their day.
Asking about their makes them feel wanted and that you actually care about them and their life and not just because they are your kids. Ask about how their school day went and if they had any achievements or if they learned something new and take it from there. It’s going to be a conversation even after dinner and kids love that.
- (and) Sincerely tell them how proud you are of them.
Remember the thing about asking if they achieved something? Show and tell them how proud you are of them like a high five or a really warm tight hug. If your kid got an A+ on a test, give him a cookie. Of if a blue ribbon was on his little artwork, the make space for it on the kitchen fridge! It’s the ultimate reward!
- Tell them to, ‘Take care and be the best you, today!’ and ‘You are strong. When you fall, get back up.’
When you are about to drop him or send him off to school, tell this to them. Some kids begin to feel different when they are not at home and they would somehow doubt themselves sometimes so telling and encouraging them to be the best version of themselves everyday is a great way to build their self-esteem. Encourage them.
- Always model to them that honesty is still the best policy by being honest even in small things.
Honesty is the best policy and no one is exempted of that fact – whether you’re a kid or an adult – and you should always be an exemplary model for your kids for they see you as their ultimate role models.
- Greet them good morning when they wake up and good night when they sleep. Pray with them every night.
Whenever the sun is rising, greet them good morning and prepare a good breakfast for them too! Giving such positive energy even before the day starts will give them a great head start on a new day.
By bedtime, right after they have brushed their teeth and took a nice bath, pray with them. Always remind them to pray to God and thank him for such a great day. This way, they are able to commit themselves to always be thankful for all the blessings that come their way.
